THREE LAYERS
Theta Drum is the only Ocean drum that has 3 membrane instead of two.
The three membranes form 2 cavities in which two different orders of spheres can flow with independent movements, generating beams of different frequencies and different sounds: one for the wave and the other for the undertow.
The acoustic result is amazing, the sound much more expressive and evocative of the true “breath of the sea” formed by the sound of the waves and that of the undertow that intersect and overlap.
SOUND PERCEPTION
The effect produced by the two types of beads moving independently creates a spatialization of the sound, as if some sounds come from nearby and others from afar. The acoustic result is AMAZING! An absolutely natural sound reproduction of sea waves that intersect and overlap in a wonderful dance of life. A relaxing three-dimensional sound envelops you to cradle your body, mind, and spirit. Its incredibly natural and evocative sound faithfully recreates the dynamics of waves and the surf of the sea.
SOUND DYNAMICS
The two types of beads contained in a Theta Drum roll on two different membranes and are managed independently to easily control the volume and timbre of the sound. The large, perfectly spherical plastic or glass beads move quickly and produce a very soft sound, while the metal beads produce a bright sound. For a very low sound, just move the plastic beads or increase the volume and the high frequencies by moving the metal beads.
CLEAN SOUND
Because of the 5-cm wide, soft wooden frame, the beads do not produce any annoying sound when hitting the sides of the frame.
MULTISENSORY EXPERIENCE
The simultaneous and independent movements of the beads create fascinating designs.
The movement of the beads is clearly visible owing to the totally transparent membranes.
The phosphorescent plastic beads in the “Cala Luna” model create absolutely hypnotic designs in the dark.
ERGONOMICS
The hoop handles easily as it is only 2.8-cm high. The Theta Drum is lighter than other ocean drums as it consists of 2 internal poplar hoops, and 2 thin, external birch hoops.
